Dr. Akinyemi Ajayi

Akinyemi Ajayi, M.D., D, ABSM:

INTRODUCTION

The Orlando Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Associates (OPPSA) and the Central Florida Pediatric Sleep Disorders Institute (CFPSDI) are both managed by Dr Ajayi. Dr Ajayi had his specialty training at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, arguably the premier Children's Hospital in the United States. He is Board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine and runs in addition to an excellent pediatric pulmonary practice the only pediatric sleep disorders practice in Central Florida.

THE CHILDREN’S SLEEP LABORATORY

The Children's Sleep laboratory-Orlando is the flagship pediatric sleep laboratory of the Central Florida Pediatric Sleep Disorders Institute (CFPSDI). This is the only true pediatric sleep disorders center in Central Florida and boast state of the art facilities for the performance of Pediatric sleep studies. The laboratory was conceived out of a desire to create a facility that met the specific technical requirements of the pediatric patient. The perception that any facility can do children well has long been proven to be a fallacy and pediatric studies just like the uniqueness of children need to be done in pediatric furnished and equipped facilities with staff who work with children all the time and not incidentally. The facility performs Sleep Polysomnography with and without CPAP/BiPAP titration as well as Multiple sleep latency tests.

THE CHILDREN’S PULMONARY FUNCTION LABORATORY– ORLANDO

The Children’s Pulmonary Function Laboratory performs complete pulmonary function tests including spirometry, body plethysmo-graphy, resistance measurements, diffusion capacity and respiratory muscle force measurements in children as young as 5 years of age. Impulse oscillometry is a technique that allows for the measurement of airway resistance and reactance in patients as young as 3 years of age and this is the only facility in Central Florida providing this capability to the pediatric populace.
